          Jhamak Ghimire was born in the Kachide VDC, eastern part of Nepal in a poor family that lived in a village full of superstition that did not consider girl child and women as humans. She was born with cerebral palsy (a condition marked by impaired muscle coordination), spastic paralysis and other disabilities (typically caused by damage to the brain before or at birth) in July 1980. She could not move her limbs, both hands and feet and she could not speak either. Despite her debilitating condition, she had the courage to learn to read and write. Writing with her left foot, she is one of the celebrated poets of Nepal and now works as a columnist at the Kantipur, a Nepali-language daily newspaper, the most widely read newspaper in Nepal. It is published simultaneously in Kathmandu, Nepalgunj, Bharatpur and Biratnagar.

          Sankalpa, Aafnai Chita Agni Shikhatir, Manchhe Bhitraka Yoddaharu and Quaati are her poetry works. Awasan Pachhiko Aagaman is her another work. She has written her autobiography named "Jiwan Kada Ki Phool" (Life is Thorn or a Flower). For her beautifully written memoir, Jhamak Ghimire was awarded with the Madan Puraskar. Besides, Ghimire was awarded by Kabita Ram Bal Sahitya Prativa Puraskar 2015, Aswikrit Bichar Sahitya Andolan, Aswikrit Bichar Sahitya Puraskar 2016, Aswikrit Bichar Sahitya Andolan and Madan Puraskar (2010). A biographical film on Madan Puraskar recipient Jhamak Kumari Ghimire has been screened in cinemas from November, 2019 .Paying tribute to one of Nepal’s finest litterateurs Jhamak Kumari Ghimire, Nepali Director Binod Bista released the trailer of his upcoming film Jeevan Kada Ki Phool on August 28, 2019.The movie is based on Ghimire’s life and shares the name of the book written by the talented writer.
