Rolling Plans Pvt. Ltd. Feb 12, 2021 14523 0
To this day, many Nepali citizens dream of having a government job. Government jobs are one of the most sought after jobs in Nepal.
There are numerous departments and ways to get a government job in Nepal. One of the most common ways is to get into the government sector through Lok Sewa Ayog (Public Service Commission).

The Public Service Commission (Nepali: लोक सेवा आयोग) of Nepal was established on 15 June 1951. It is the main constitutional body involved in selecting meritorious candidates required by the Government of Nepal for Civil Service Vacancy. It is regarded as one of the most credible modes of recruitment. The Constitution of Nepal has regarded the commission as an independent constitutional body.

How to prepare and apply for Lok Sewa in Nepal

Whenever any sort of human resource is required for the nation there’s a vacancy notice announced officially by the Public Service Commission.

The notice consists of vacancies for numerous positions. Every skilled and qualified individual can apply for the Government job/vacancy through Lok Sewa.

However, many criteria are depending on the position you’re aiming for. Age, academic qualification, medical clearance, and other job factors being some of them. You also have to submit the necessary certificates for the post and registration fee.

You can also fill the form online from the official PSC website. Some of the required documents are:

  • Academic Certificates

  • Training Certificates

  • Professional Council report/Medical council report for Health Service related posts

  • Scanned signature

  • Passport-sized recent photo

  • Inclusion group certificate

  • Citizenship

For the selection process, Lok Sewa Aayog (PSC) examines as per the Public Service Commission (Procedure) Act, 2066 B.S. They will be using the following methods:

  • Open Competitive written exam: Full marks:100 MCQs with 20 % negative markings and 100 Subjective/Theory questions. Model sets can be found on the Lok Sewa website as well; the question papers cost from Rs 5 and above. You can also take model tests to check your competency for the exams online. You can also buy question banks from the bookstores on a field you desire to get a job in.

  • Open Competitive practical exam: Generally, the full mark of each paper is 30 and the pass mark is 15. However, this may vary according to your field of interest. You will be asked to solve everyday problems related to your job post. Questions in practical exams revolve around general knowledge and practicality of your skills in everyday situations.

  • Interview: An interview date for the candidate is given by the PSC where the candidates are judged based on their body language, attitude, general knowledge, and communication skills. This part of the selection process is not heavily dependent on details of your course syllabus however it is advised to always have a brief idea of the syllabus and your field of interest.

  • The PSC can adopt other forms of procedures as well if they will and according to the demands of the situation.

The commission has adopted a system of "multi-blindness" in which setting and moderation of questions, checking of answer sheets, conduction of interviews as well as result of written examinations and interviews are carried out in a manner that officials involved are kept in anonymity to each other.

Tips to prepare for Lok Sewa exams

  • While preparing for thematic questions, repeat at least three courses of study, preparation of notes, contemplation, analysis, and then repeat.

  • Changing the location and surroundings that you study will increase efficiency and help you perform better in the exam venue.
