Simta municipality is situated in the north east of surkhet district. This municipality comprises of eight village development committeess namely Ghoreta, Kafalkot, Agrigaun, Bajedichaur, Rakam, Kaprichaur, Dandakhali and Khanikhola according to the current administrative structure. It shares its border in the east with Salyan district, north with Jajarkot district and west with Chingad and South with Gurvakot municipality of Surkhet district. It covers an area of 22,915 hecter; the fourth smallest municipality of all nine municipalities of Surkhet interms of area with inhabitants mostly belonging to Chhetri, Kaami, Thakuri, Damai, Brahmin, Magar, Sarki and Sanyasi ethnic groups.
