Rural Health and Education Service Trust

RHEST started a program “STOP GIRLS TRAFFICKING” (SGT) in 1996by partnering with the American Himalayan Foundation, an INGO headquartered in San Francisco, California to save vulnerable girls from being forced into brothels, slavery and child marriage. This is achieved by financially supporting them for their education and making them aware of the importance of education.

The program started by providing support to 54 girls. In 2020, the SGT program supports more than 10,000 girls from Grade 1-10.  So far, more than 30,000 girls have received support from RHEST.

The program protects “Girls at Risk” from trafficking by providing educational scholarships. We also regularly follow-up with the girls and their families to encourage regular school attendance and to raise awareness about trafficking.
